NORTH ATTLEBORO - Bryan S. "Smitty" Smith, 44, of South Washington Street passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Falmouth Hospital. He married his childhood sweetheart, Kelly J. (Gaudette) Smith over 21 years ago.

Born December 16, 1968 in Erie, PA, he was a son of Malcolm and Roberta (Welch) Smith.

Bryan grew up in Mansfield, was a 1986 graduate of Mansfield High School and a graduate of Hall Institute of Technology in Pawtucket, RI. He has been a resident of North Attleboro since 1991.

Bryan worked as a carpenter and was well known and liked by many in both North Attleboro and Mansfield. He loved to play golf and follow the local sports teams including the Patriots, Red Sox and Bruins. He was an animal lover and also loved the ocean. He was a longtime member and past Exalted Ruler of the Mansfield Elks Lodge and also enjoyed playing pool.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his mother and father-in-law: Thomas W. and Patricia L. (Adams) Gaudette of North Attleboro; a grandmother: Norma W. Smith of Mansfield; two siblings: Robert A. Smith and his wife Ellen of Marshfield and a sister Cassandra A. Valentine of Mansfield; Sisters-in-Law: Lori and her husband Robert "Cuz" Burgess of Maine and Debbie and her husband Timothy Greve of East Falmouth; a brother-in-law Thomas D. Gaudette of North Attleboro; and 13 nieces and nephews: Amanda, Victoria, Marissa, Thom, Layne, Jonathan, Noah, Nicholas, Kathryn, Olivia, Genevieve, Skyela and Maxwell.

Visiting hours will be held in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Sunday, May 5 from 4-7 p.m. An Elks Lodge of Sorrow Ritual will be held at 6 p.m. during the visiting hours.

A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, May 6 at 12 noontime followed by burial in Newell Burying Ground, South Attleboro.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the World War I Memorial Park and Zoo, designated for the caring of the animals, 446 Elm Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760.

Kelly Phillip and I just found out about Bryan's passing and we are so very sorry if you need anything I still live in north Attleboro same house would love to see you. I have some great memories of bryan you and me hanging out. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

I will celebrate Bry's life, our love, and the blessings of each day. Twenty nine years of tenderness, countless laughs, and very little tears. I am so very thankful to God that he allowed Bryan to be a part of my life. His family is my family, my family is his family. I have treasured each and every second with you.
