It is said that one cannot choose how to die, but one can choose how to live. Bryce Wilson, of Craftsbury, Vermont, passed from this life on March 9th after living a long life of quiet dignity.
Bryce was a life long educator. His career in education spanned almost 40 years. After stops in Derby and Hardwick Vermont, Bryce ultimately planted his roots in New Jersey where he was employed by the Waldwick Board of Education for 34 years. As a guidance counselor, teacher and coach, Bryce touched the lives of countless children. His calming manner will be remembered by all who came in contact with him. His subtle wit and wry sense of humor were Bryce?s hallmarks.
In 1959 Bryce and his wife Audrey, moved to New Jersey settling in the picturesque Cupsaw Lake section of Ringwood. They raised 4 children, and upon retirement the couple returned to the family farm in Craftsbury and opened the Whetstone Brook B&B. Audrey could often be found in her kitchen telling the guests about her cherished AGA stove. Bryce would regale the guests with tales of his 9 grandchildren, or the town history of Craftsbury or pretty much anything else. Bryce could converse with people from all walks of life.
Before his illness, Bryce was an avid golfer. He played 2 or 3 times a week?and never got better at it. He had a love hate relationship with the game. Several years ago, his clubs were?shall we say, mercifully liberated from the bed of his truck in the wee hours of the morning. Bryce was quoted as saying, ?I hope those clubs cause whoever took them as much trouble as they caused me!? For anyone who has ever played with Bryce, we know that would be pretty tough to do.
Bryce is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Audrey; daughter Lisa Sedore and husband Tom of Craftsbury; son Terry and wife Ginger of Palmer, MA; daughter Karen Starr and husband David of Highland Lakes, NJ; and son Jim of Pompton Plains, NJ; grandchildren Katie and husband Nick Meyer, Jessie and husband David Upson, Megan and husband Jon Amell, Lindsay Sedore, Shannon Wilson, Joseph Starr, Connor Starr, Jonathan Wilson, and Julie Anne Wilson; Great grandchildren; Madison Amell and Henry Upson. His nephew Ian McMurray, his sister Ann Wilson and husband Warren Williams, also survives Bryce.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday March 21, 2015 at the United Church of Craftsbury Common with the Rev. Alan Parker officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in Bryce?s name to the Parkinson?s Disease Foundation 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018
or The Greensboro Nursing Home, 47 Maggie?s Pond Road, Greensboro, VT 05841. On-line condolences at curtis-britch.com. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Curtis-Britch & Davis Funeral Home, Craftsbury Common, VT.

Not sure what to say?

He is fondly remembered as my 7th grade math teacher . After falling asleep sitting in the back row of his class , l asked him to move me towards the front which he promptly did . That was in 1962 at Prospect Street School , Waldwick,NJ . He was later my guidance counselor in high school and always a friendly , smiling person ! R I P ........Mr. Wilson ,one of the good guys !

Such wonderful memories of a wonderful man. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mr. Wilson was my 7th/8th-grade English teacher and guidance counselor in Waldwick, NJ. If he was reading something to us and looking down, he always knew who was misbehaving and would extend his arm and index & pinky fingers in the precise direction of the offender(s) and without a word, the behavior would stop. I was once sent to his office for giving a substitute a bad time. Again, Mr. Wilson got his point across to me very calmly but effectively; he really made an impression. I will...

Mr Wilson will always have a place in my heart. He got me through some very hard times, just his gentle demeanor made all things tough seem minor. He was my guidance counselor in grade school {Prospect Street School} Waldwick, New Jersey along with being my teacher! R.I.P. Mr Wilson, years later I met him and he said please call me Bryce, I couldn't because I have great respect for him.

To the entire Wilson family I don't need to tell you what a great man Bryce was, but , he was, have many fond memories of Bryce as my teacher, co worker and dear friend of my father Sam. Also remember the wonderful time years ago in Vermont at a Blue Grass Festival. My condolences to you all, may the memories keep you smiling and Bryce RIP

Mr Wilson was my 7th grade math teacher at Waldwick prospect st school in 1962. I sat in the back row sound asleep in his class . I few days later a spoke with him ,asked to be moved up to the front row , I never slept in his class again . He was a great teacher and friend. RIP Bryce

I was a student and JV Cheerleader under Bryce Wilson when he came to Hardwick. Really a nice teacher but sure gave his team a bad year in basketball. I loved Civic's which he taught as well as being coach of basketball and baseball and thus have continued being a civic minded citizen and loving history. When I had my second son and we wanted a name beginning with B we chose Bryce and want to say he made an impression on my life.

Dear Lisa,
We are so sorry to hear about your dad's passing. Our condolences to your entire family. May memories of love and life sustain you,

Dear Audrey and family, Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of an outstanding person and educator. It was a pleasure working with Bryce at Waldwick High School. My Mom and Aunt had fond memories of Bryce when he painted their house. He was a true gentleman. May he rest in heavenly peace.
