I´m not an acquaintance, but through reading the book The Outpost, I got to know what a wonderful, selfless, kind person and soldier Buddy Hughie was. My condolences, and I know his purest soul is watching over his loved ones. Rest easy, Buddy Hughie.

Hughie and his Gold Star Family for the sacrifices that they made in the war in Afghanistan that came to its conclusion one minute before midnight for Tuesday, 31 August 2021 evacuation date. Sgt. Today, Monday, October 12, 2020, Sgt. Buddy J. Hughie has been inducted into the perpetual enrollment memorial at the Shrine of Divine Mercy at Stockbridge, Mass. in honor of Veteran's Day this coming November. Every day Masses and prayers will be said for Sgt. Hughie and for other members at the shrine. I enrolled Sgt. Hughie along with a friend of mine, Kenneth Michael Otte, who was killed in Vietnam on 16 January1967. May they both rest in peace today and always.

I honor Buddy and his family yearly since he fell in Afghanistan. We trained together at Combat Medic school in 03-04. I wear his name in a bracelet to remind me of courage and unwavering love for others. May God Bless his family forever.

Hughie, his family and friends.
