Bula was, in a real sense, like a mother to me. She was very kind, generous and hard-working. I never heard her say an unkind word. As I was best friends with her son, James (Jamie as we called him), she treated me as one of her family. I was invited to their Thanksgiving dinners, which I gladly joined. Her cooking skills were legend. Even though she was German, being married to a Sicilian she became a master at Italian dishes -- her lasagna was the best. I love her and she is frequently in...
