Dear Mr. "Burch" Marshall,

I had the pleasure of catching while you were umpiring for me while playing in the Jr. Major League at Colonna Field near Mohegan Park. I learned a lot about baseball, but more about life, in general, from you.

Many years later I had the continued pleasure of serving with you as an umpire on the Norwich Board of Approved Umpires. You taught me the qualities necessary to be a successful umpire.

I am deeply saddened to here of the passing of Bro. Marshall. I'm taken back to a Black History Program at the church many years ago when he told the children about the Negro Baseball League and how the children hung on his every word and as he spoke he was so proud.

I was blessed to have known such an awesome and wonderful man of God. You will all be in my prayers and remember he has earned his place with the Father.

To the Family, Bro Marshall will truly be missed. I enjoyed all the visits I had with Bro Marshall singing the good old hymns of praise. He was a Blessings to our church and we will all miss him. May you find comfort in knowing to live is Christ and to die is gain. He's gone to a better place. God Bless each of you and my prayers remains with the family. Peace and Blessings.
