I am deeply saddened, and wish to express my sincerest condolences to Gloria, Daryl, and the rest of the family. I knew 'Big Man' for nearly 60 years, even before joining the Newark Fire Department, as his family lived across the street from me. I was too young to know much about him then, but in the '70s, we worked together and served in the same firehouse on the same tour of duty, in Engine 29, Truck 10, for many years and fought many fires together.
