Not sure what to say?

I miss you, Dad. You won't believe what happened on your birthday this year: Donald Trump was again elected POTUS. It's a disaster. I wish you were here to talk about it with me!

Each November 5th, I get a pang. Burnsie, you are so very missed. The loss of your spirit and force-of-nature self has left a big hole in the world of a lot of folks. I hope you're playing piano and writing yet another book wherever you are. Love and miss you.

I did not get a chance to say goodbye to you, my dearest friend! I miss our conversations, your curiosity and your advices.

I think of you all the time, Dad, and I love and miss you very much.

I love and miss you very much, Dad!

It was a great honor to have him as my mentor for almost 30 years. May his spirit live on in the lives of countless colleagues and students whom he had touched.

Burns was a man of many parts and true citizen of the world. He used his prodigious intellectual talents and boundless energy and compassion to improve the human condition everywhere and to advocate for strong measures to address the profound threat of global climate disruption. We will miss Burns' irrepressible wit and inspirational outrage at the latest injustice but we are all better people for having known him and learned from his example.
