Not sure what to say?

Dr. Routman was one of my attending physicians when I was a medical student. He was an outstanding physician. He had superb medical knowledge and skills but most importantly he taught me humility, compassion and empathy towards the patients that we are trusted to care for. He was also an Air Force officer and inspired me to follow in his footsteps. He definitely touched many lives and he has left his legacy in this world by the physicians he trained and patients he cared for. He will be...

Burt was a friend, student, and fellow facility member. I always missed his honesty and humor after he left Des Moines to other pastures.

Burt was a wonderful friend & colleague at LMU and part of the inaugural faculty which became a very close-knit team. He will be greatly missed; the world is a better place because he was here. RIP Burt.

rest in peace my friend

He will be lovingly remembered by my classmates as he was our Dean of Student, and our paths crossed many times throughout his career via ACOFP activities. Yes our profession has lost a physician to emulate and model our careers after.

Burt Routman, DO was a phenomenal physician and teacher! I first met him at a CME not quite 20 years ago, and we immediately bonded and became friends. Such was the good Dr. Routman. While quite a number of us knew that he was a veteran -- having served in the USAF -- what many did not know was that for 2 of the 3 years he served on active duty in the Air Force, Captain Routman was the Flight Surgeon for the USAF Aerial Demonstration Squadron -- the famed "Thunderbirds"! "High Flight", my...

Dr Routman taught me what it meant to be an osteopathic physician and molded me into the family physician I am today. I can not say how thankful I am to have had him as a mentor and friend.

Burt was a wonderful doctor. He was the one and only Osteopath I have ever allowed to give me a treatment. I had fallen on the ice at the school where I taught, directly on my tailbone. I trusted Burt, even though I had had implanted in my psyche, by my parents, a dislike for that type of medicine. Dr. Routman was very patient with me. I never forgot that.

I also enjoyed being around theater activities with him. He was an outspoken board member, or show selection committee member,...

Rest In Peace my friend
You always will be remembered for your kindness and your wonderful person you were!
