August 22, 1940 - October 29, 2025
Mint Hill, North Carolina - Mr. Buster Tanner, 85, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born and raised in Charlotte, Buster was the beloved son of Thomas and Rosebud Tanner, growing up as one of nine children in a close-knit family. A proud graduate of Harding High School, Buster dedicated his life to serving his community as a Mecklenburg County ABC Agent, worked with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Department, and continued his career with US Bonding, until he finally retired.
For 63 beautiful years, Buster shared his life with his devoted wife, LaLoy Tanner. Their bond was unbreakable, built on laughter, mutual respect, and a deep, abiding love that only grew stronger with each passing year.
Buster was preceded in death by his beloved son, Eric Calvin Tanner, whose memory he carried in his heart every single day, as well as his parents and six siblings who welcomed him home.
Family and friends were invited to gather on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Service–Mint Hill Chapel. A funeral service took place at the same location on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., followed by interment at Sunset Memory Gardens.

I've know Buck and his brothers all my life. I was born only 3 houses apart. Raised in the same church, Seversville and Harding High School. I have fond memories playing sandlot football and basketball next to Durham Memorial Baptist Church. Buck was always a leader back then...wild and crazy on the playground. He grew up a great citizen and protector of the community serving his entire career in law enforcement. Buck is loved and will be missed by many!

Buster Tanner was one of the best men that I have ever known. He was so incredibly funny and we had so many good times together. He loved his family with all of his heart. There is a special place in heaven waiting for Buster and if the good Lord is willing, I know that we will all see him again.

Thoughts & prayers for the family! I knew LaLoy from working @ Southern Bell/BellSouth. Did not know her husband graduated from Harding & was also a westsider as I am!
