Not sure what to say?

To The Maher Family, One memory of Father Maher was going to my first face to face confession to him at Transfiguration. I was scared as he was so tall and big and I started to cry. Father got me a kleenex and was very caring. He was not so scary afterward. Another memory of him on one Easter Sunday and he said hello to our family especially to my Grandmother Cele. He said ,"Happy Easter Cele." We all laughed as we never thought of our Gram as an Easter Seal before! God Bless You Father....

Our deepest sympathy to Byron's family. He hired me to work at Transfiguration Church 24 years ago. My husband and I have called him friend for longer. I'm glad we were able to celebrate his 85th birthday with him. God Bless Him.

Fr. Maher married us 25 years ago when Transfiguration church was just built. We were the first ones to be married in the Chapel. We have kept in touch all these years. He was a special person. God Bless Him

My deepest sympathy to Byron's family. I spoke with him late last year. I was trying to locate family in Wisconsin and called on him to look back to see locations. He was very helpful. He will be missed.

My sincere condolences to the family & friends of Fr. Maher. I knew him as one of our parish priests at St. Ethelreda in Chicago where he was involved with some of our school activities, and was a great fiend to our students and parish.

My prayers will be offered for him.
Jerry Donahue, Class of '59, St. Ethelreda

My condolences to the family, I was an altar boy and served many masses for him @ St. Ethelreda with my brother Bill. He was a coach and an avid fan of our 7-8 grade football team, he also bowled in the Holy name bowling league. My parents were fiends of his and he was always a joy to be around.
Jim Weimar Class of 1959.

My prayers and best wishes to Father Maher's family. I remember fondly the Sunday dinners served in the "for special occasions only" dining room when Father Maher accepted my mother's invitations to our home in the 1950's.

His marvelous sense of humor made for good times in our classes at St. Ethelreda Grammar School.

I know that all of my classmates join me in mourning the loss of one of our childhood icons.

Please accept our condolences on your loss. May he rest in peace. We will keep him and the family in our prayers. We are related to his cousin, William Maher.

To Father Maher's Family,

Please accept our condolences and prayers. We were a St. Theresa's (Powers Lake) family and used to look forward to the beginning of summer and Father Maher's masses!
