You couldn't ask for a better friend than Byron. We were friends ever since I started working as a reporter at the Independent in September 1976. We had a lot of laughs and good times together. Byron lived a colorful life and was a great storyteller with wide-ranging interests. He was lucky to have a wife like Molly and his two children, Melissa and Kit. So sad to see that Byron had passed. I remember working with him at The Independent in the 80's. He was always such a great character. My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.

Molly,
I am sorry to hear about Byron.
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I always found conversations with Byron one of the highlights of my day. He was truly one of a kind.

So sorry to hear of Bryon's passing. He was always fun to talk to and interesting to argue with. God bless him and your family.

When My father Virgil Leach passed, Byron wrote the best Non-Obituary one could hope for....they worked together at the paper. Byron was a rare Man....

I'm so sorry to hear of Byron's passing. Byron and I built a lot of pages together when we worked at the Independent. He was a colorful character and I will miss him. So long you old "shootist."
