Byron Geoffrey Toney

Byron and I were together in the United States Naval Academy Band from 1976 to 1985. I'll never my first concert at Mitcher Hall, and hearing the band, especially Byron on String Bass. I was so impressed! I quickly became a very good friend with Byron ( called him Rev. Byrone, he called me Son). I'll miss him dearly. Fair winds and following seas shipmate. And bless you dear Cathy.

I am so very sorry to hear of Byron's passing. I was stationed with Byron at the Naval Academy Band from 1977 until 1981. It was wonderful to make music with him. His humor and his wit were such a huge part of his personality but yet when needed he could be serious and thoughtful. We had some very fun times in the Annapolis area together, playing music and just sharing time. I will miss him greatly. Byronie..... rest now shipmate and save me a seat in the band.

So many many memories, laughs and wonderful times together. This is definitely one we still recall. Besides Byron's passion for music, he was also an avid gardner. So...each summer the Toney family always packed up the gold-colored van and headed south to visit with their own families. They were gone for a whole month, and we missed them! It was a privilege and a joy to serve with Byron in the USNA Band. Eternal rest grant unto him, oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
