Despite the busy schedule, Rick always found time to mentor young professions like me. I will remember his kind guidance and encouragement forever. He will be missed.

Having worked with Rick at Callison, I experienced his integrity and passion. He inspired, motivited and led others to high standards. Above all, he showed balance and compassion in his career and relationships. Rick will be missed greatly.

Rick was one of the original members who helped form the UW Architecture's Professionals' Advisory Council, and was the Council's de facto institutional memory until his retirement. In this time Rick and I became good friends. Rick believed in the institution of education with a genuine and selfless passion. He believed that a
good education, first and foremost, taught important life lessons. Rick was most moved when a student would tell him how much a particular educational experience...

My condolences go out to Rick's family, friends and business associates. I have known Rick since he first came to Seattle and have appreciated his friendship and dedication to his profession and to Callison Architecture. He will be missed, and always remembered for his generous service to his country and profession.

Rick was an inspiration to my understanding and appreciation of Architecture. He practiced with a passion for Architecture, and his charisma was felt by many. He always had a kind and encouraging word, for those who had the pleasure to work with him. Rick was very complimentary, and always mentored to instill confidence and pride in what you do. I will miss him dearly, but I know that heaven look a lot better now that Rick is there.

Rick's kind and generous spirit will always be remembered here at Callison. Rick was a wonderful mentor and role model throughout our time working together - from Nordstrom stores in the US and our work in Korea, and negotiating contracts from Dubai to Bangkok. He always did his best to work through the most obscure and challenging issues in our cross-cultural work, always with a calm and helpful approach. My thoughts are with you Peggy for your loss and know his spirit will continue...

Rick was a collegue, a mentor, a role model, and a friend. He lived an enviable life: one full of passion for family, friends, vocation and vigorous interests, all belied by his unassuming demeanor and calm spirit. He embodied the saying: "Act like a man of thought; think like a man of action." I will miss him greatly.

Our deepest sympathies to Rick's family and friends. His contributions to the design profession and the community were enormous. He will be remembered by his colleagues for his great work.
