C.B. "Smiley" Liles, of Lonoke, Arkansas, was born August 11, 1926, at Five Mile (Cleburne County) Arkansas, and died April 18, 2004, at his home. He served as a Merchant Marine in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters in World War II, and he worked forty-two years as a pipeline construction swing-hand, building pipelines all over the United States.

Smiley was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and Edna Liles of Ward and one son, Alan B. Liles of Lonoke. He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Mary Frances (Eagle) Liles; one son, Thomas D. Liles and one daughter, Diann Arnold both of Austin, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Stacy Agee of Carlisle, Tracy Price and Kimberly Webster both of Ward; David Highfill and Denise Highfill both of Austin; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice Kever and Nelda Young both of Heber Springs, Arkansas.

Visitation begins 9:00 A.M. Wednesday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Funeral is 2:00 P.M.
