C.B. 'Tut' Tutwiler

Funeral for C.B. "Tut" Tutwiler, 73, of Decatur will be Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Chaplain Travis Badger officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Tutwiler, who died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at his residence, was born August 12, 1939, in Birmingham to Carter Bibb Tutwiler II and Lucy Worsham Tutwiler. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Brown. He worked for the Decatur Police Department for 27 years serving as lieutenant of traffic division and retiring as captain of training. Mr. Tutwiler served as a Deputy U.S. Marshall for Federal Bankruptcy Court, was a previous District 2 City Councilman and volunteered at Decatur General Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Jane Tutwiler Coker.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Rhonda Tutwiler; one son, David Tutwiler; two daughters, Lisa Tutwiler Brakfield and Beth Tutwiler; one stepdaughter, Leah Smith; and five grandchildren, David Tutwiler II, Jacob, Joe and Gracie Tutwiler, Zac and Sydney Brakfield.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Coker, Steve Brakfield, Zac Brakfield, David, Jacob and Joe Tutwiler.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Rhonda, Pat and I are so sorry to learn of Tut's passing. I am so glad to have known him as my old friend. He will certainly be missed my many. You and the children are in out prayers.

Rhonda, you and Tut are an inspiration to all of us that true love is awesome. We must know that Tut is in Heaven and we will join him there one day and all that love you shared here on earth will continue for eternity. We love you and are here for you anytime.
