C. M. Woolard, Jr, age 97, died Monday, March 11, 2024.


A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday March 16, 2024 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, officiated by Claudia Alligood.


The family will receive friends at the home.


C. M. was born February 25, 1927. On March 22, 1947, he married Geneva Gurganus who preceded him in death on March 21, 2017. He is also preceded in death by a son, Meredith; two granddaughters, Shanna and Laura; a brother, Marvin; and three sisters, Charlotte Sullivan, Irene Thomas and Sarah Garrett.


Survivors include two daughters, Jeannie Woolard (Dale) and Terry K. Woolard; one grandson, Matthew Woolard (Mindy); one great granddaughter, Miranda; one niece/daughter, Joann Gaylord (Jimmy), and several nephews and nieces.


A lifelong carpenter, C. M. honed his talent at the original Moss Planing Mill in Washington, NC, and ended his career as the Carpentry Instructor at John A. Wilkinson High School from 1971 until the school’s consolidation in 1989. He retired to his love of commercial fishing. C. M. was also a founding member of the Bath Volunteer Fire Department.


In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Jeanne, Terry and Woolard Family, I am so sorry for the loss of your dad. When our family came to visit y’all from San Antonio I remember Uncle CM always welcoming us with a wonderful fish fry dinner accompanied by all of Aunt Geneva’s delicious vegetables, etc.
He was a sweet and gentle man. I know he will be missed by so many.
