Not sure what to say?

It is always difficult to lose old friends from many years ago. It reminds us of our own mortality. I send my condolences to Ruth and the family and also his brother, Ed. I recently lost my husband of 57 years
and understand your loss. May God Bless all of you.

To Cleo & family
He was a remarkable man and artist who will always be remembered fondly by those who knew him. I (also) own several pieces of his jewelry including an ID bracelet which was a "trademark" of "his" work. It was given to me by my sister Susan inscribed with a date of 12/25/65.

I lost my father recently who battled an illness and is now resting in a better place so I understand your loss and pain.

Cleo, I am sure you will continue in his footprints and am glad...

We have been away and were shocked to hear today of Les's Passing away. As business neighbors and friends Les was always a gentleman and knew everyone by name. We will miss him and treasure all the things we have of his. Linda Cobb Petras, Betty Cobb

To the Smith Family,
My sympathy goes to you all. Les
taught me silversmithing in the
lower level of his shop on 9th St.
and has inspired me to continue
sporadically over the years. Today
at age 70 I am passionately making
jewelry, exhibiting at shows and
proudly announce that C. Leslie Smith was my teacher. I will never
forget those lessons and the talents
he shared.

With sincere sympathy,
Marlene C. (Stettler) Kiick

Dear Aunt Ruth, Kris, Cleo, Karen, Rooney and Chuck - We want you to know how saddened we were to hear that Les passed away. Know that we'll be thinking of you at this especially difficult time and praying that you'll find comfort. We have many fond memories of Les from visits to The Shop and family gatherings. The wedding bands Cindy and I have worn for nearly 32 years are a daily reminder of how he made a difference in our lives.

les left a lasting imprint on my mind
that that still shows up in my daily
life although it has been a long time
since i had seen him nothing can ease the sarrow but the memories
last forever

To the Smith Family:
The shop was so much a part of my teenage years. First 9th Street, then Hamilton Street, I was a loyal customer. I still have my ring, keychain and bracelets. Most of all, an ID bracelet from a boyfriend when I was 16!! I'm 61 now and am still a customer. I will miss Les's soft voice and smiling face. My sympathy to his entire family and thanks for the memories.

To the entire Smith family,
You are all in my prayers. Uncle Les was such a kind an gentle man. Have peace knowing that he is with God and the other loved ones we have lost along the way. You will be missed Uncle Les. Your great niece, Tonya (Smith) Klemmer

Dear Aunt Ruth and family, sending love and sympathy; Uncle Les will be missed and remembered by so many. xxooLynne
