Calantha R. Sears, 103 1921 - 2024 Nahant - If the residents of Nahant appear to have less spring in their step, it is because on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, our cherished mother and friend, Calantha Ruth Wilson Doane Sears, left the physical world to reunite with the love of her life, Winthrop E....

Not sure what to say?

All our hearts are warmed by memories of Calantha. Both Christine´s father, Stanley and Brad´s mother, Jean worked side by side with Calantha and loved her dearly, as do we. Please accept our condolences for your loss and apologies for not being able to attend the grand celebration on Saturday-we are 6,000 miles to the west. Aloha from Christine and Brad Smith.

Mrs. Sears (and later Cal)- Thank you for nurturing my love of reading. I always wanted "books about facts" when I visited the library. You finally imposed a rule that I could only take out one fact book and had to also select a story book. You usually had one in mind. I had to tell you about that book on the next visit while you patiently listened, always trying to steer me towards books that would open up my world and spark a love of reading. It worked and you enriched my life beyond...

Dear Calantha, Thank you for your love and friendship to both my mother and myself. You visited my mother on many occasions. I really enjoyed talking with you at the Historical Society where you recorded my memories of growing up in Little Nahant. It was also so nice sharing stories of my mother's family the Tombeno's. I will never forget you and you will always be in my prayers.

She was like a constant friend to so many people. To me she was an inspiration. To hear that she has passed is very sad.I had several personal experiences with her in my life and to know she was there was very reassuring. I used to babysit for her and had many experiences with her children. Thank you Mrs. Sears for all you meant to so many people.

Mrs. Sears, such a wonderful, kind , thoughtful, happy person. Always looked forward to seeing her every year at the town´s Memorial Day parade. She will forever live in our hearts and memories. Sincere sympathy to the entire family.

Mrs. Sears was an outstanding, amazing woman..her wealth of knowledge and kind spirit is something I'll always remember. The Town has lost an Icon. God Bless her and her family.

Mrs. Sears was my Girl Scout co-leader around 1960 (along with Mrs. Downs), and I fondly remember her hosting a weekend troop outing at her family camp in NH. Over the past several decades, I´ve had the pleasure of bumping into her and have always been amazed that she not only remembered my name, but also recalled more details regarding my family and childhood than I do! She was such a remarkable woman; my condolences to her family and friends.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

The Solimine Family and Staff wish to express our sincere sympathy to you. It is our hope that we may be able to make this difficult period more bearable. Please feel free to call on us at anytime, as we are always available for you.
