God is near to those that are broken at heart and he is a refuge and strength, a help that is readily to be found during distress(Psalms 46:1). May the God of all comfort grant you the strength that you need during this time of grief and loss.

My condolences to the family of Dr. Calvin B. Grimes. His love of music and helping others to appreciate that music has power is in harmony with God's Word the Bible. It can calm us, stir us, and lift our spirits. It can express both our joys and our sorrows. Common to virtually all cultures—past and present—music is a language of both the mind and the heart. I would like to exend my condolences. What a wonderful legacy to treasure. May the music he played and shared always inspire you. As you face the days ahead, look to God for comfort.(2 Corinthians 1:4)

This is one of the hardest condolences I have had to write because of the closenes of our Athens families. My family was Calvin's family and his family was my family. His grandmother and my grandmother were like sisters. His father, John R. and my mother Lucy Maxwell Johnson were the best of friends. To sum it all up, Calvin and I were like sister and brother.
