Not sure what to say?

I think about Candace often.....after all these years. There isn't much I can say that hasn't already been said about her greatness and potential. In these times of discontent, I believe she would've LISTENED to each "side". I believed she would've employed superlative critical thinking skills (which can be taught). But more so I believe she would've employed her unwavering compassion and compassion for humanity [(which is intrinsic and cannot be taught) but is fostered by special...

Candace represented hope as Bob said. She and I began our study of philosophy at Mott Community College. I truly admired and respected her intellectual fervor and her passionate conviction. I am saddened that we fell out of touch. She was one of the few people you meet in life who leaves and indelible mark. I often wondered how she was for no apparent reason. This was how resonating and powerful here presence was. I am grateful that she is now free of pain. I am also grateful that our paths...

We were so sad to hear about Candace. Our heartfelt condolences to her family and many friends.

Although I had the good fortune of knowing Candace only for a short time, her glowing smile and passion for life will endure in my mind forever. My deepest sympathies go out to all of you.

I met Candace at the beginning of grade school at Dieck Elementary and we struck up a friendship that lasted the better part of 15 years. It was an honor and a privilege to call her my best friend during that time and I’ll always cherish the countless memories I have of her. I regret that we lost track of each other over time, but I will never forget what a beautiful, caring, intelligent, irreverently funny and fiercely courageous woman she was.

I cannot yet express how pervasive the loss of Candace is to my life. She was my best friend and quite simply one of the most extraordinary individuals I have ever had the honor to have met. Her contribution to the lives of each and every person lucky enough to have met her cannot be measured by any standards that I know of; had she stayed, her mark would have been indelible to so many more. She gave me something that I oftentimes cannot find on my own. She gave me hope. I love you Candace,...

Candace was a brilliant student of philosophy at UM-Flint. She combined a keen intellect with deep humanitarian concerns -- a combination that perfectly suited her goals of becoming both a professor of philosophy and an attorney dedicated to child welfare. Through her graduate studies in Ann Arbor, she was already progressing firmly toward those goals. We have lost a kind, generous, courageous, and gifted young woman who was truly committed to making the world a better place.

Joel, Linda and family,
I can't even imagine the heartache, the sadness, the pain and all the emotions you are going through at this time, but I want you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers. From what I have heard Candace was going through some really rough times. Bless her heart. Take Care, Nancy
