I was a maritime academy cadet and was assigned to work under Captain Liberty in 1978 on the T.T. Stuyvesant running crude oil from Valdez, Alaska to Puerto Armuelles, Panama for 103 days. I could not have had a better captain to work with in a training capacity. He showed interest in my school work as well as made sure I was working with the best mates on the bridge. It was one of my greatest experiences in life working on one of the greatest ultra large crude carriers, the T.T. Stuyvesant....
