We competed in dressage with Carey. Also got our first Rhodesian Ridgeback from Carey' and Elizabeth, Ch Caretwoods Debaji. Such a knowledgeable and delightful lady to talk to on many subjects. We will miss our Christmas cards from her.

Bill this is Mike March I showed up a day early for your mother's funeral excuse me the next day I didn't have transportation yeah that woman told me it was that day but they really give me a call William Bill 9715703730I'm about I don't know 15-20 years ago and we have to run into each other in a place and we had a nice talk and I really appreciate the Elizabeth coming out to my father's funeral so you know where longtime neighbors and anyway Bill give me a call I need to talk to you

When I first met Carey she kind of scared me and when I first rode under her when she was judging, she really scared me. But I found her to be honest and kind and she gave me a pretty good score on my test. Later I rode at the same barn with her. I really enjoyed getting to know her and I admired how she got out to the barn every day, got on her horse and rode. You could just see how it made her glow. I especially liked seeing her take her horse outside for a walk in the fields. ...

I knew Carey and her family growing up in the neighborhood. I remember her as the best girl scout leader--fun and fearless as we scraped mussels of rocks and cooked them on the campfire.
I was also a rider and always enjoyed her horse stories and knowledge.
A long life well lived and my condolences to Mary Alice, Elizabeth, Billy and Jim.

Carey Evans was an iconic influence in the world of horses and their humans. She can be credited with educating through US Pony Club and the well known example she lived in her years at the Lake Oswego Hunt Club. She will be sorely missed by all the equestrian community she so inspired with her riding beauty, grace and longevity! Our deepest sympathy to her family; her memory will live on.
