Carie was so special. All who were fortunate to be her friend surely treasure our time with her. She was an amazing young woman, so compassionate, smart, funny wth a Joie de vivre unmatched. I am devastated by the loss of Carie who was a treasured friend and colleague of mine at Penguin Random House. In fact, Carie hired me for a Times Books marketing manager position in 1993 which involved a job transfer to NYC and launched a new life for me and my family there for the next 14 years.
