Not sure what to say?

My best man at my wedding in 1977

On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans (USSVI), we offer our sincere condolences to Mary, Lee, Donald, and all of Carl's family and friends as you mourn his passing. May God whisper peace into your hearts, comfort, and heal them. We are grateful for Carl's service to our country in the U.S. Submarine Service during the Cold War. To our “Brother of the Dolphin” we say … "Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. May you rest in peace and may God bless your loved ones who remain....

May the family find strength in the words of Isaiah 51:12, "I myself am the One that is comforting."

I am very sorry for the loss of your dear son and brother.

Mrs. Abbey,
Though I didn't know Carl, just his athletic prowess from Don I want to offer my deepest condolences to you, Don, Lee & Robin on his passing.
Sincerely,
John K. 'Okie" O'Connor

Hi Mary--I used to work at the church (and brought my dog, Lucy)--just read about your son--so very, very sorry

Carl was a very good friend of mine. I'll miss talking to him every day, the excellent lunches he made for me and the good sports talk we shared. He was a very generous man. Carl was an avid reader of many daily newspapers and a crossword puzzle fanatic. He always took the time to put them aside for my girlfriend to use with her art students. Among everything, Carl was a genuine man! He always spoke his mind whether it be good, bad or indifferent! Rest in peace my friend.

Carl was my first "true love" in the first grade and he has remained in my heart since that time. He was a wonderful young man who had a great heart and sense of fun..not to mention that he was the such a natural athlete who set the standard n all sports that he played. He will always remain in my heart as the great young man that he was. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Carl has always remained in my heart, since the first grade, as my first "true love" . I am reminded of his warm heart and his sense of fun and I don't think I have ever known a better natural athlete. He will remain in my heart as that great young man. I am truly sorry for your loss.
