Carl E. Bailey

I worked for Capt. Bailey at the training academy. He was quite the jokester, going so far as to load up his own cigaretts and blame it on Lt. Goldsberry. He was a very good leader and a great man.

Socrates said that a life without virtue was an unhappy life. Based on my contact with Capt Bailey, he was deservedly happy. Our thoughts are with the family.

I am deeply sadden by the death of Captain Bailey. I knew him for many years. He was a very nice and jolly person. I worked at police headquarters and looked forward to him coming on 3rd shift for 3 months . I also knew him when I went thru the academy to become an auxilary police officer. He was the one who encouraged me to become an auxilary. He will be sadly missed.

Captain Bailey was at the Police Academy when the first class of Women to begin Patrol Duty started on Oct. 20, l975. Captain Bailey was fair, impartial, and a great man to work for. He will be truly missed. They don't make them like him anymore. May God bless him as he makes his way to Heaven.

I served as a patrolman on the 2-wheel motorcycle squad and Carl was my Sergeant. He is remembered as one of the best supervisors that I served under during my 28 years of service. He always had a great sense of humor and the morale among his squad was always very high. He will be sorely missed.

Carl was a good friend to my Mom & Dad for many years. I took a liking to him because, in many ways, he somewhat reminded me of my Dad. In recent times, he became a special friend to my mother, husband and myself. He was sometimes stubborn, persistant & set in his ways, but we would just laugh with him about that.
