Not sure what to say?

Two of my treasured gifts from Carl.

My deepest condolences to Carl's family. I was one of the lucky ones. I had the honor of working with Carl everyday for more seven years, and both my children's second grade teacher. His upbeat positive energy, sense of fairness, kindness, and constant levity, made East Elementary feel like home. He did so much, and brought so much joy to our little community. Whenever, he crosses my mind there will be a warm smile on my face, and in my heart.( Miss you, YoYo Man)

Carl was a good friend to my late husband Tom Guyer.. He encouraged Tom to learn to carve. This became Tom´s favorite hobby and he created many wonderful carvings under Carl´s tutelage. Carl was indeed a master teacher and I know he enjoyed teaching both children and adults. He had a weekly carving session at his house for a few friends and they learned a lot from Carl and each other. Carl was unassuming and kind. The world was enhanced by his life. Please accept my sincere sympathy.

My wife first met Carl at swimming lessons where she took our boys and he took his grandson. He taught all our boys to juggle. I then met Carl as a fellow board member on the Comstock Public Schools Foundation board. He was a great guy and always fun to be around and talk to. After our stints on the CPSF board, I would often see him at Borgess Fitness Center reading a book while riding a stationary bike, and he would always ask about my wife and our boys. Since the pandemic, I miss...

Wonderful man. Great teacher. When you have a second grade teacher that you remember for life that teacher is special. That was Carl. God bless your soul.

I called him Mr. Betz because he was my second grade teacher and I am 64 years old. He was always kind and very funny. I have fond memories of him. My daughter, now in her 40´s also had him as her second grade teacher. So very sorry for your loss. He was a very special person to many I´m sure.
