Not sure what to say?

We were so lucky to have walked into that Lutheran Church in the Canal Zone in 1969. That was the beginning of a 46 year friendship that was as close as any we had. It was always amazing to us that we could visit Carl and Elaine, leave, see them months later, sit down and continue the conversation as though there were no intervening time. They were surrogate "grandparents" to our kids and the best of friends to us. We will miss Carl, and hope that all of his family know how much he meant...

Dear Members of the Bretcher Family, I was truly saddened to read of Carl's passing. He was truly a great a servant of God and His people. I haven't seen Carl for years, but way back in 1981 we worked together with the Alzheimer's Association and he served on St. Elizabeth Adult Day Care Center's board of directors in our early days. What a great gentleman.

Debbie and I want the family to know that he was an inspiration to us both. I went through confirmation classes with Pastor and was confirmed by Pastor Bretscher, probably one of the first confirmation classes. I remember him playing on the softball team which I and my Dad (Lamar) played on.
He will be truly missed, but he has made an impression on many through the years and will always be remembered as the starting force for Resurrection Lutheran Church here in Pensacola. May God be...
