Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home - Henderson Obituary

            Carl Eugene “Buck” Buchanan, 78, of Henderson, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Redbanks Nursing Home.


            He was born on September 21, 1946, in Union County, Kentucky, to the late Frank and Mary Mills Buchanan.  Buck spent many years following the horse racing circuit from New York to Florida and as far west as Arizona with many stops in between.  Along with his love of horses, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid UK fan.


            In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Frank Buchanan; two sisters, Sharon Kay Buchanan and Delores Edwards.


            Survivors include one daughter, Karla Ann Buchanan; two granddaughters, Bailey Jo Buchanan and Amelia Grace Wright; two siblings, Larry Buchanan and his wife, Shirley, and Joyce Sheffer and her husband, James; and many nieces and nephews; cousins; and friends.


            Services will be at noon Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.  The Reverend Tim Shockley will officiate.  Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery.


            Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Some called you Carl, some called you Uncle Buck, I called you Eugene you were my fishing buddy love having you come down and fish in the pond and little lake you always go excited about catching some fish, the conversations we would have and the stories we would tell.
