Not sure what to say?

Mr. Burger gave art instruction on one occasion to my father, Joseph J, Schott, my father. Tonight I was reviewing with my father brief writeups of 15 of his oil paintings on display at the new Fanwood Memorial Library beginning September 14, 2024. One painting, 'Please do not open' depicts a wall cabinet door. Tonight dad recalled how in 1966 Carl appreciated this piece a lot for its clever mixing of the real (metal hinge) and the unreal (painted wood panels and written note pinned to the...

Single Memorial Tree

Carl was a lovely friend and teacher for me, truly inspiring, and we had a lot of fun together. I am so grateful to have known him and enjoyed his generosity, intelligence, kindness, affection and humor. He made friends everywhere even in difficult circumstances. I send my heartfelt condolences to Russ, Rafael, and Carl's family and many many friends. I will never forget him.

Rafael, Sincerest condolences on the loss of Carl. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of loss. Your Stewartsville neighbors, The McGoverns

My sincere condolences to Rafael and Russ over the passing of Carl, a great painter and a good friend.

Carl inspired me to follow my "muse" as an artist. I loved taking classes with Carl, becoming a friend!! I will miss him immensely.

I was lucky to have taken classes taught by Carl at Kean. He was energetic, interesting and by far my favorite instructor. The stories he told about his own journey as an artist remain with me today. He was and continues to be a wonderful inspiration.

Carl was a wonderful instructor and mentor, I enjoyed his breadth of spirit and talent. We have lost a truly bright light. Deepest condolences to all who were blessed to share his unique gift of being.

So sorry to hear of Carl's passing. I was lucky enough to have taken a number of painting classes with him in Bedminster over the years. He had a great sense of humor that he used to help people to feel comfortable & relaxed so we could be more "painterly" in our work. So much of watercolor I learned from Carl.
