His career with the NEX took him from Philippines to Guam and eventually Japan, where he retired in 2014. After retiring from the NEX, Carl joined his daughter in Lacombe, LA. He became a member of Saint John of the Cross church and the Knights of Columbus, where he immensely enjoyed his new extended family. God speed captain ding-a-ling! You were a great friend, Knight and best bell ringer morning mass ever had!

Carl, my friend and family member. Such a sweet, caring, generous, humble man, well-grounded in his church and family. So many shared holidays, Sunday football games and a week spent in my home after Ida, sweating, laughing and playing games. He loved my potato salad. Not only was he my son's father in law, he was an awesome friend. He will be sorely missed.
