Not sure what to say?

Hard to believe a year has passed since we said goodbye to Chick. I still often think of him as our middle school principal and Chick's bar-owner, bass player and friend to many! He has earned eternal love and rest in Heaven.

Chick was the kindest soul and gracious of hearts, he took care of all around. every encounter was left feeling his kindness and love no matter how long in between or how small the exchange many prayers to his entire family , we were all blessed to have known him.

In the backdrop of my childhood, Carl DeFebo looms large! I'll never forget the day Mr. DeFebo, Principal of Herbert Hoover Elementary, caught wind of some rampant bullying being directed at one kid in particular. An immediate, all-school assembly was called and there in the gymnasium, Mr. DeFebo addressed the issue directly, ordered it to stop, then spoke like an evangelical minister of the cruelty of hate and of the love we should have for each other as fellow students and humans. What...

Chick was my middle school Principal -- he was always a voice of calm and reason.  He loved the kids and counseled with a firm but caring demeanor.  Later when I could frequent the music-scene, Chick's Tavern was a favorite.  I could always count on Chick for a big ole bear hug and smile.  We reminisced about his Principal days and taking gymnastics with his daughter, Ann.    At Chicks Tav, you could always count on great music, a full dance floor, good drinks, and friendly staff and...

I am very sad to hear of Chick's passing! He was such a great man with a heart of gold and loved by so many people! He will be missed tremendously and never forgotten! May he RIP! My deepest sympathy Carl & all of Chick's family!

Mr. DeFebo was such a kind soul. When I got hurt on the playground at Herbert Hoover, he drove me home. He also helped me to become a hall patrol. I will always remember his kindness. Condolences to his family and friends.

My thoughts and prayers to the family,Chick went to Berwick high school with my mother Gloria DeVine who also just recently passed,I had the opportunity to play music with Chick as I was the drummer for the band The New Coalition and he would sit in with us when we played at his tavern and back at the legion pavilion when we played there for there picnic,he was definitely a kind man and I feel fortunate that we shared the same stage and I got to know him thru playing music together...

The wisdom you gave us as children.... Made us better, stronger adults. Thank You...

To the entire DeFebo family may pleasant memories ease your sorrows and may God bless you all. RIP my friend.
