Carl Irving Easterling was born March 31, 1957, to the union of the late Edward and Sovada Easterling in Magee, MS. He joined Mount Pleasant CME Church at an early age and served under the guidance of his parents until he moved to Omaha, Nebraska in his early twenties.
He attended Carver Central High School and also Collins High School.
Carl loved cars and racing. He was also an automobile mechanic and loved to rebuild engines. Carl was a man with many gifts and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Carl was a great groundworker and wood logger: simply, a “jack of all trades.”
Although he was named Carl, many referred to him as either “J.J.,” based on his wittiness and mannerisms similar to the character “J.J.” from the sitcom “Good Times,” or “Donnie,” which was given to him by his father.
Carl departed his life on October 15, 2021, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and one brother.
He leaves to cherish his memories: five children, Steven “Shacq”, Stephanie “Boo”, and Brian Easterling, Tiffany (Kenneth) Easterling–
Cook and Carlisha Easterling; five siblings; Wallace (Lola) Easterling, Delores Sowell, Lanell (Windell) Southward, Shirley Jackson, Eddye Averett, and Norris Easterling. A devoted Life Partner; Judy Cooper and other children; Dillion Sterba and Jolene Sterba.
He also leaves to cherish a bouquet of nieces, nephews, other family members, relatives, and friends.
We are so sorry for your loss. Donnie will be sorely missed.
