Electra Bunch, with Carl, kneeling. Liberty, TX, 1954

I loved visiting with Carl and Betty during annual get-togethers of the Electra Bunch - their group of 6 couples who met in Electra, Texas in the early '50's. Carl's sense of fun and his kindness impressed me most. I am enclosing one of the photos I took at the last gathering of the Electra Bunch in Bolivar, TN, May 31, 2007 Celia Green Carroll, Santa Monica, CA

Remembering and giving thanks for the life of one who led a remarkable life and who was a blessing to his family, his country, and his church.

I only learned today (Dec. 18, 2011) of Carl's passing. We grew up together in Commerce, from grade shool until World War II. Had many an enjoyable class of 1940 High School reunion. He and Betty were dear friends and I will miss him greatly. Al (he called me "Boots") Scroggin.

The ""Electra Bunch" has brought us many pecious memories. Carl was such a great guy!!!

If you didn't know Carl, you missed knowing someone unique and special. Strength and comfort to Betty and family.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Hathaway family. Carl was such a warm, loving man and I know he will be greatly missed.

Our prayers and sympathy to all of the Hathaways for the loss of Carl. The best evidence of his greatness lies in his son and daughters and their families.

Our hero. Carl's B-17 crew. Monument at 8th Air Force Museum
