Not sure what to say?

I worked in the criminal clerk´s office for 20 years. I was always impressed by watching Judge Holm on the bench. He was tough, scary and yet compassionate. He was a great man and is deeply missed. Rest in peace " your honor".

Carl was a good DA I was fortunate to have him prosecute a murder case I was assigned. He worked hard and did a great job. I just learned of his passing. My deepest sympathy to Carolan and his family.

I worked with Carl for many years and always enjoyed his companu. He had a great sense of fun about him. He enjoyed teasing and organizing lunch. Of course sports was one of his favorites. Once in a while I was mistaken for a btother because I have a beard. Sometimes prople would say ypur brother is in Dept A My condolence to his wonderful family.

Those were great years Carl and Carolyn would come down from the Bay Area for every USC home football game. When we would go out for dinner after the game, Carl knew what really happened: the X's and O's, the strategy, the players. He was so much more perceptive than a regular fan. That perceptiveness extended to more than football. Not only was it fun to talk politics or culture with him, I always learned a lot too. God bless you, Carl and God bless your great family. Thank you for...

I remember Uncle Carl as an Avid USC Football fan & loved sharing that with family. He loved his family, wife, daughter & grandkids very much!! My father, John Hummel also was a graduate of USC & played basketball & tennis for them. My son, "Duke" James Russell shared Carl's brother, James Russell's name. Condolences to Aunt Carolyn, Cousin, Laurie, Grandkids, Andrew, Sydney & Mattie.

Carolyn, I am so sorry to hear of Carl's passing. I will always fondly remember our chats about our USC Trojans. He was so much fun. I will keep you and the family in my prayers. Peter Cella

I first met Carl in May of 1987 when I came down to San Mateo County to interview with the D.A.'s Office. He was the first person I spoke to in the office and was a key reason I was hired. He became a mentor to me and also a friend, both in the D.A.'s Office and when we were both judges. Few, if any people were more influential in terms of the lawyer and judge I became. For years we went to classic rock concerts all over the Bay Area together. The Who, the Rolling Stones, Crosby, Stills,...
