Mr. Carl Edward Moss was born on May 21, 1939, in Whelen Springs, Arkansas. He was one of eight children born to John H. and Fannie Talley Moss. He was raised in Malvern, Arkansas, but left and joined the United States Navy at the age of 16. He bravely served in the Korean War and was later stationed in San Diego, California. He served for 10 years, before being honorably discharged.


After military life, he moved to New Jersey where he continued his civil service in the United States Postal Service. After 20 years of service, he retired to Hot Springs, Arkansas. Being the hard worker he has always been, Carl continued to serve by working security for many businesses in Hot Springs and the surrounding communities. Carl continued to live in Hot Springs until he decided to move to Arizona. After living in Arizona, Carl later moved to Panama City Beach, FL to be closer to his children and grandchildren. The Lord called Carl home on November 17, 2021 from the comfort of his home. Carl was an avid boater and lover of the open ocean. Carl enjoyed traveling and spent many years seeing the world from the South Pacific to Africa.


Carl was preceded in death by his aforementioned parents; siblings: Bertha Moss Harper James, Olive Moss Tippens, John H. Moss Jr. “Bill”, Lillian Paige and a grandson, Kyree Sampson. Carl is survived by his ex-wife, Deborah Sampson; children: Anthony Grandville (Katina) of Georgia, Natasha Bennett (Jonathan) of Florida, Eshoniah Russell of California, Tyree Sampson (Erica) of Arkansas, Stephone Moss (Mariah) of Arkansas and Faith Moss of Florida; siblings: Bobby Sue Moss Underwood (Leo) of Illinois, George Moss (Cheryl) of Ohio and Eldean King (Robert) of Illinois; grandchildren: Tirrany Grandville Chery (Jeff), Tasia Grandville, Joseph Grandville, Tia E, Shaniya Grandville, Nicole Bennett, Jackson Bennett, William Russell III, Ishani Russell, and Elijah Smith, Kyree Sampson, Kree Sampson, Sekani Moss; 7 great-grandchildren; his special cat, Bowleggs and a host of other relatives and friends.


Carl's Home Going Service will be held at Visitor's Chapel A.M.E. Church, in Hot Springs at 12:00 pm, on Monday, November 29, 2021. A walk-through viewing will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Malvern on Sunday, November 28th, from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. Masks are required for both indoor gatherings.
