Carl Pennington, age 83 of Guysville, passed away Wednesday evening, Oct. 4, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born Feb. 27, 1934 in Rowan Co., KY, he was the son of the late John & Emma Crum Pennington. He has been a resident of Guysville since 1964.
He was employed in construction in Columbus and Dayton and retired after 24 years of service from the Athens Mental Health Center, where he worked as a plumber. He was passionate about farming, his cattle and was an avid antique tractor collector. He was a member of the South Logan Church of Christ. He and his wife have been foster parents for over 36 years.
Carl is survived by his wife of 62 years, Beulah "Louise" Whitt Pennington; three daughters, Barbara Sue (Roger) Delong of Logan, Brenda Kay Whitt of Guysville and Carol Jean (Rick) Sams of Logan; six sons, Fred Carl (Leona Ann) Pennington of Guysville, Glen David (Tammy) Pennington of Guysville, Anthony Wayne (Diane) Pennington of Guysville, Eddie Ray (Wanda) Pennington of Logan, Jason Dwayne (Christie) Pennington of Guysville and Johnathan Kyle (Kari Elizabeth) Pennington of Guysville; twenty eight grandchildren; and twenty eight great grandchildren.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by five sisters; and seven brothers.
Funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens officiated by Jason Hoelflick, Minister. Burial will be in the Pennington Family Cemetery, on the family farm. Friends may call Saturday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
