I met Carl as a student during a painting residency in Vermont. He was warm, accessible and very encouraging of my work. During studio visits he was funny and bright and oh so knowledgeable about painting...truly a lovely preson.

I didn't know Carl for very long, but what a Shock! He filled the room with his smile, and laughter, and his genuine compassion. I think he lived every moment of his life with absolute joy and thanks. I'm so glad he had the show in NYC! I will have sadness, knowing that we will not meet again, but oh the stories they will be hearing in Heaven, and that twinkle of Carls' eyes! Have a good journey, my friend!
