Not sure what to say?

I was so sorry to hear about Dr. Sanders after the funeral services were held. I would love to have attended out of my love and respect for him. When my parents (David & Verleine Carl) first attended Broad Street Methodist Church in 1955, I was just 8 years old and my brother was 6. Even then I was "smitten" by his "charisma and charm" and stood by his side as he greeted the worshipers coming out of the church each Sunday. He referred to my brother as "Curly" since he had a crew cut at the...

We were so disappointed that we could not attend Uncle Carl's services -- what an inspiring man he was! As a child, I remember being in awe of him --- and when I was grown and and later heard him preach, I respected him even more! I'll never forget the beautiful service he did for my grandfather, his brother. I'm sure they are reminiscing and rejoicing with the angels -- both are now well and whole! Our thoughts and prayers are with you all!

With love,
Tim, Connie, Anne Sanders...

I regret that I did not send a letter to Ill. Bro. Sanders, I consider that one of the greatest honors I have had was being able to talk with him during one of his visits to Dothan Lodge. I shall carry that memory forward passing his memory to other Brothers.

Muffin & Lundy, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families at this time. Your father was a wonderful person, we do remember him well! Do keep in touch with us.

Dr. Bishop and my mother spoke often as he helped her to expand the MYF at Midland City United Methodist Church. I can remebr him having dinner one evening with us all then speaking on why it was so important to stay in church. Bishop Sanders also wed my second cousin whom is a preacher in the Methodist Church, Jerry always said that his and Kates marriage was truly blessed because a "Man of God wed them."

Lundi, Muffin and Billie Jo:
How saddened I have been since receiving the news that Carl had 'joined the Church Triumpnant' on Wednesday.
He was my mentor, one of my dearest friends whose influence upon my ministry is far reaching. For 2 years at Broad Street--first hired as Student Assistant and then appointed Associate by Bishop Garber, I sat at the feet of the most dynamic preacher I have ever known. He preached in special services at churches I would serve later: St. James-...

In the 50's, while working summers on a graduate degree at the U of R, the event of the week was to attend Broad Street Church Sunday nights. Carl Sanders motivated my life ever since. One of the saints! Send his like again, O Lord.
