Somersworth, NH - Carl Wilbur Sessler, Jr., 79, of 1 Morning St., died suddenly Tuesday June 3, 2003 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover of a rare cancer.
Born in Lynn, MA on October 21, 1923 the son of Carl W. and Gertrude (Calef) Sessler. He was a longtime resident of Lynn and grew up there and graduated from the Lynn schools.
He was a World War II Veteran having served as a gunner and pilot in the U. S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Somersworth Post American Legion.
Prior to his retirement he was a manager at the General Electric Co. in Lynn where he worked for 40 years.
Carl enjoyed bowling, was involved with various bowling leagues as well as having been a professional bowler on Boston TV. He also enjoyed golf and was a wonderful dancer.
He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Newington and was formerly a longstanding member of the former Resurrection Lutheran Church in Rochester where he enjoyed being the caretaker of the church grounds.
He is survived by a son Kenneth D. Sessler of Boston, MA, four daughters Cheryl A. Sessler of Jamaica Plains, MA, Marion A. Kaszuba of Atlanta, GA, Susan P. Sessler of Cambridge, MA, Janice M. Sessler of Dover, five grandchildren William Wyman, IV and Sarah Wyman both of Newton, MA, Karsten and Jared Kaszuba both of Boulder Dam, CO, Adalia Sessler of Dover, a sister Dorothy Cooper of Peabody, MA, many good friends including Gus Hoaglund and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Irma E. (Schuessler) Sessler who died in 2001, a daughter Dorine R. Sessler and a sister Ruth McAndrew.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Tasker Funeral Home, with Pastor Beth Follum Hoffman and Rev. Linn A. Opderbecke, both of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Newington. Burial will follow in Forest Glade Cemetery, Somersworth.
