Not sure what to say?

It's always difficult to make any statement that makes sense about losing a lifelong best friend. Growning up together Chip and I were always getting in trouble together. God knows we were special buddies when Paster Riedel almost threw us out of Catechism Class. Some of the favorite memories I have of being with Chip were:

-putting the sign "Hay 50 Cents per Bale" in front of the Cascade Mansion
-discovering how to make gun power and cannons
-falling through the ice on Browns...

I first met Carl at Jackson High School when he was dating Penny Mathany and I was dating his best friend Todd Howard. We had lots of fun times and it was so exciting to follow Carl and Todd's post graduation trek through Europe via letters and postcards. I ran into Carl a few times when we were both attending U of M. So many memories of teen-age years that were experienced in the idyllic times of the early 1960's. I am so very sorry to hear of his passing.

Life is good, and sharing a few moments with a few friends is stellar. I thought Pastor Beohne did a lovely job...when your last contact was to say I love you, and hear it back, you know it's good. cya

Dear Family:
I was so sorry to hear of Carl's passing. Although I haven't seen him for awhile, some of my fondest memories are of times a group of us would get together at Sleders in Traverse City and share a drink and fellowship.
My thought and prayers are with your family.

Dear Family- I was so saddened to hear of Carl's passing. We went to jr high and high school together. He was such a grand guy. Though we didn't keep in touch from that point on, he was remembered by many often in years past.

I hope you can take consolation in the knowledge that Carl is happy, healthy and whole in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus. My prayers are with you all. Sincerely, Carol A. Campbell

I visited Carl last Wednesday morning at the cabin. He wanted me to stay a couple of days but I was unable to spare the time. I deeply regret that now. Carl has been a great friend since around 1975 where I met him playing cards. I am not sure he was any happier than when he was playing cards! I will miss him and may God bless him and his memory.

Stolberg Family,

Some of my fondest memories took place at Mongoose Lake. Chip didn't know it but I had a huge crush on him. My brother Terry and Chip took our boat across the lake and with birch bark limbs and sticks, created their names on the side of a huge hill. It was very dangerous and our mothers were very upset with them. Boys will be boys!
Growing up with your family was such a wonderful time.

My deepest sympathies.
