I would like to say Carl was a very good friend and mentor to me. I will always remember when he took me for plane ride, that was one of the most exciting times I'v had in in my life. He was a very good person and I will miss him for the rest of my life.

I was a friend of Carl's since high school. I haven't seen him in quite a while but I often thought of him. Most recently was the night of his death when 3 other of his old friends and I were talking of "old times' and I had asked if anyone had heard from Carl. My fondest memories where when - just out of high school Carl began putting together a tiny little Renault and installing a 400 cubic inch hemi to power it. A little quirky but a loveable guy.

My deepest sympathy to Carl's family. Knowing Carl was a great experience. He was my best friend through high school and college. I spent more time at the Swanstrom house than at home. We shared an interest in science, running experiments, and experiencing new things. We won science fairs together. In fact, at the district fair, we won a consolation prize of a day trip to the Argonne National Labs. A vivid memory was a drive back from Missouri in his ancient car. Just past St. Louis, the...
