Carl has been a good friend of mine for over 70 years. I first met him at Hi Rock in 1954. Through camping years, I was pleased to get to know his entire family. He served me well in his various rolls at BearRock. He served well as a teacher and in everything else he did.I can truly say "Well done good and faithful servant".

I'm sorry for your lost. I had Mr. Sword for my 9th grade biology class at Johnson Jr High. I remember him fondly as a caring teacher.

Dear Mrs. Sword,
Mr. Sword was my high school biology teacher when I was a senior at SHS in 1964. He was a great teacher and really inspired me, I will never forget the message he wrote in my year book and little did he know that in a few years it became true. I know you will miss him. He was a good man.

Betsy and family, We are saddened to read about Carl's passing. At Stratford High school he was my mentor and supervising teacher who taught me so much in my early years as a young teacher. I will always cherish his intelligence and wit.
