Carl M. “Mick” Weston, 55, St. Rt. 6, Rome Twp., died on Monday morning at his residence, following a heart illness of several years.

He was born November 4, 1948 in Cleveland, the son of Carl A. & Ruth M. (Farinacci) Weston and has been a resident of Rome Twp. most of his life. He attended New Lyme Demming Local School and was a 1966 graduate of Pymatuning Valley High School, where he participated in band, choir and lettered as a miler in track.

He attended Kent State University where he was involved in student government and took part in the first play, Spoon River Anthology, at KSU-Ashtabula Branch. He was a chaplain of the Delta Psi Omega social fraternity and was president of Upsilon Beta Psi business fraternity in 1968-69. Mr. Weston also was a member of the Kent State University Band and Glee Club and did travels and study in Europe. He was a 1970 graduate of KSU, witnessing the May 4, 1970 shootings.

Mr. Weston was an engineer and fireman for the Penn Central and Conrail Railroads. He, along with his father, owned and operated Weston’s Towing and Salvage in New Lyme Twp., which has been in business more than 55 years.

In his early years he was very involved and nationally known in the demolition derby contests. He was a member of the Rome Volunteer Fire Dept., where he served as Sec/Tres. in 1988-89-90. He was a founding member of the Roaming Shore Safety Committee, which started the Rome Shores Police Dept. and was a member of the New Lyme Twp. Fire committee. In life, one always knew where they stood with Mick Weston, there was never any doubt.

He is survived by his 1st wife and friend, Pamela S.(Clements) Weston, two daughters, Wendy M. Weston & Kimberly J. Weston, both of Roaming Shores, a sister, Marilyn R. Kroner of Colorado and his companion, Mary Ann Shortridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl in 1988 and Ruth in 1983.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 10th at 11:00 A.M. at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson with interim pastor Mary Jo Foust of the Rome Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-9 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers family has requested donations go to the Salvation Army/Kitchen Pantry or the Society for the Blind.
