I just learned of Carl's passing. I remember him well. My family lived at 88 Summit Ave. He, his Aunt Marie, Uncle Buck, and brother Leslie lived in the apartment next door, from the time I was eight years old. After I grew up and Carl went into the Marines, we exchanged letters. He once told me that they didn't have mail call regularly when he was there so he would sometimes get a whole stack of letters from me all at one time. Once he sent me a beautiful doll from Viet Nam. I kept that doll...

We appreciated the opportunity to know Carl. He was kind and caring and we looked forward to sharing rides with him. We will miss his photo books, his happiness in sharing proud grand-daughter accomplishments and the caring and respectful way about him. We contributed to Wounded Warriors in his honor.

I was given Carl's name years ago by a family in Summit who relied on him for decades for rides to and from the airport. He was such a nice man. Sending my deepest condolences to his family.

Carl Wilkerson was a good man who served his Country as a Marine in Viet Nam. He was also a Hilltopper and a great fan and supporter of Summit Football. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him . Semper Fi
