Bassett Funeral Service - Bassett Obituary

Carl David Wright, 73, of Bassett, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 22, 2025. A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and cherished friend, Carl will be remembered for the warmth, strength, and kindness he shared with all who knew him.

Born on July 14, 1951, Carl was the son of the late Willis H. Wright and Lillian Spears Wright. He was preceded in death by his sisters, June and Shirley, and his brothers, Gary, Donnie, Jerry, and Tommy.

Carl honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and later enjoyed a fulfilling career as an engineer with the Pulaski Company, from which he retired. A man of many passions, Carl found joy in hunting, playing golf, and—most of all—spending time with his beloved family and friends.

Left to treasure his memory is the love of his life for the past 16 years, Faye Wright; his daughters, Shannon Whitlow(Billy), Trish Robertson, and Sara Wright; his son, Kevin Wright (Christy); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and close friends who will miss him dearly.

Not sure what to say?

Sarah and Kevin, You are in our thoughts and prayers. I know this is so hard on both of you, just lean on Jesus, and he will comfort you, and carry you through this time of sorry. We are here for both of you.

Sending thoughts and prayers for you all

So sad to hear this my God be with family

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Very good friend will miss him

So sorry for your loss! We pray for God to give his family comfort and peace in the day ahead!

We grew up together, the closest of friends, more like brothers, we both served in the Vietnam war. As I look back on the years past, I find myself thanking Carl for being the best friend a man could ask for. He will be missed from the bottom of my heart.

Thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Carl has been one of the most dedicated veterans in Martinsville and Henry County. He served as Commander of AMVETS Post 35 in Collinsville for at least 5 times and performed all his duties flawlessly.
Carl will always be remembered for his loyalty, dedication, integrity and friendship to all of us who have known him. May Carl now rest in peace and await rejoining his comrades on that great final bivouac known as Heaven.
