Not sure what to say?

As I spoke to a close friend of mine today, he asked if I was aware that my former co-worker at the Winston-Salem Journal, Carla, had passed away. Needless to say, I was stunned. My heart is saddened, but I thank God for the season of her life we shared. She truly had a beautiful spirit! My prayers are with the family.

Words cannot express how stunned I am today to learn of Carla's passing. We spoke at least once a month, the last time about a week before her passing. Our talks were about goals, dreams, taking advantage of all life had to offer and advising each other on how we could make a difference in the lives of the young people we work with. Carla cared. She did not shy away from being the role model that she was; and, she took her gift of mentoring people seriously. She was so respectful,...

I am very sorry for your loss. Carla was a wonderful person and I am very thankful that I got to call her my friend. She will be missed by many. My prayers are with you all at this time and always.

Rest in peace sister, you are going to be missed. You know I have much love you, and I really want to thank you for being my friend in good and bad times. Your unconditional love will forever be in my heart.

Rest in peace for we will meet again someday soon. Love you always

My condolences to Carla's family and friends. Carla provided valuable support and guidance for the Crisis Intervention Training program in connection with which I witnessed her dedication and spirit. She will be missed!

Carla made the front desk at the Journal the place to be. She always had a funny story to share or a kind word if you were having a bad day. I admired her work ethic, her insight and her desire to make a contribution, wherever life took her.

I just met Carla a couple of years ago towards the end of my internship at MHA, and I am so glad that we became instant friends. She was a wonderful friend, inspiration and advocate for mental health. I am so sorry for her family and our community. Even though this is a sad time for those that knew and loved Carla, I am so happy that I had the chance to meet her and become her friend. I am going to miss you Carla! I love you girl!

To the Clark family, may the God who supplies endurance and comfort be with you during this grievous time. Even though death may separate us from our loved ones, God promises a time when death and sickness will be no more and the time will come when we may be reunited with our dead loved ones. Our prayers are with you.
