Not sure what to say?

We are so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in out thoughts and prayers.

As a new engineer at Bell Labs, there were many challenges that I was asked to undertake and solve. Carl was one of the best mentors around providing timely practical advice on how to solve problems.

He also was the "tool man" who offered loans on home-improvement items as a power planer and a lawn thatcher from his stash in the barn.

He was a wealth of practical advice -- a real engineer's engineer.

I first met Carl at Bell Labs, West Street, Manhattan, NY in 1961. Our friendship extended to our families with family camping trips and other activities together. Following our retirements from Bell Labs, we continued our friendship via email until his death. We discussed many things but lately the state of the economy and the attitude of our current government were our popular topics.

I have never known anyone with a greater zest and enthusiasm for all things that comprise...

I helped Carl setup his internet account back in the 80's he lived in Florida at the time. We had been friends ever since. His loss will take the heart out of a lot of people beside me. My sympathy goes out to Helen who I know was the love of his life.

So long Old uddy

Carl was my photography mentor and one of the best men I have ever known. He was someone I could count on to jump in the car and come over any time I had a question (on anything). I know that I am a better man for having known him. May God grant peace to him, his family & his friends. Rest in peace, Ol' Carl.

To the Irish family, please accept our sincere and heartfelt condolences during this difficult time.

I knew Carl as a customer at Buck's Dairy Queen and more recently at Kroger. At Dairy Queen, I remember him ordering an ice cream dipped in "scutterbotch". That always made me laugh. At Kroger he would come and get his little shot of espresso? in his little cup at Starbucks and then come over to the bakery to get a donut. Sometimes he would sit and eat with his bride-how sweet a man he was. I will always remember him. Thank you Carl

Thank you for your service to our country.
