Carlos Hernandez MUNSTER, IN - Carlos Hernandez, age 89, of Munster, IN, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Carlos is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Petra (nee Herrera); his children: Juanita (Marc) Boivin, Elizabeth (David) Bozell, Lourdes (David) Lorino and Carlos (Joan) Hernandez; as well as six grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews. Born September 7, 1927 in Mexico, Carlos worked for many years for Berman's Furniture and Appliances. A long time resident of Northwest Indiana, he will always be remembered for his loving smile, warmth and love of life. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 2:00-6:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home 7109 Calumet Ave Hammond, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at St. John Bosco Catholic Church 7113 Columbia Ave Hammond, IN with Fr. Richard Orlinski officiating. I knew Mr. Hernandez very well when he worked at Berman's Furniture in Indiana Harbor and I was a beat officer walking the business district on Main Street. He was truly a gentleman and a close friend. I lost contact with him after I retired.
