Mr. Bownell and my father (Bob Verdehem) were good friends. My father was a Geneva Police officer, and my dad served legal papers for Mr. Brownell part time for most of my childhood. I was constantly in his law office with my dad. He was a true Gentleman, skilled Attorney, and dear friend. The Verdehem family sends it sincere condolences to the Brownell family.

Condolences to the family of Carlton. Later in life, he was a good friend for many years. We shared many interesting and enjoyable experiences. He always displayed good breeding and an intelligent insight into what was occurring. Near the end, he struggled with insurmountable health problems which would have easily defeated a lesser person. He will be greatly missed for all of the good things he did. May he Rest In Peace.

He was graciously supportive of my youth volunteer involvement that led to an 18-year career. I will always remember him as intelligent, kind, generous, and committed to his community. Sending my sympathy to your family as you grieve this...
