Not sure what to say?

I remember Mr. Sgro with great affection. He taught me more about organizing my thinking--whether for a debate or an essay--better than any other teacher. Later, as a colleague, I saw the playful side he didn't always show in class when he helped me organize (of course!) a practical joke on my former students, who were now his charges. I can only hope to be as fine an educator as he was.

Jane Elkes Hesslein, Teaneck HIgh School class of 1967, Teacher at Whittier (1973-74)

Mr. Sgro and I had many political arguments in American History, but they were always respectful and interesting. I have come to realize over the years that he was a model of tolerance and patience in the face of youthful dissent. I'm glad that he had such a long and happy life with his loving family. I remember him vividly--what higher tribute is there for a teacher?--and was very sorry to hear of his passing.
Rita Goldberg, Teaneck High School '67, now of Lexington, MA

Mr. Sgro was a dedicated teacher with limitless patience for his students. He was a fine, dependable role model for us at time when the community really needed it. His love of teaching and his love of children made Teaneck High a special place. Toni Oliver Nayowitz, Class 1970

Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.

Sincere condolences to the Sgro family from two THS teachers who go back a while, but still have memories of Charlie as a dedicated professional and mentor at the start of our careers over 40 years ago. Those days in Teaneck were not the easiest to navigate, but
they were memorable!

Praying for the family of this GREAT MAN...so many times I was disciplined IN LOVE by him and I am thankful that God allowed our life paths to cross. RIP Mr. Sgro!

I remember Mr. Sgro with fond memories of Teaneck High School. He was my homeroom teacher for 3 years and used to call me the Will o'the Wisp. Sadly, he will be missed by those of us who had the pleasure of knowing him.

To the whole Sgro family I offer my sincere sympathy in the loss of "Charlie", Mr. Sgro to me! I am sure you all have so many memories of this special man to carry you through these difficult days.
